SteadyHost

Privacy policy

SteadyHost collects as little data as possible. You don't need an account and we don't use cookies.

When you check a website

We don't store the report. To run the check, we connect to the website itself and request data from a DNS resolver (Cloudflare) and from the registry of the domain. If something goes wrong technically, the domain name may end up in our error logs; we only use those to fix errors.

To prevent abuse, we remember your IP address for at most one minute to limit the number of checks per visitor.

We count how many checks are run per day, without domain names or IP addresses.

Visitor statistics

We measure how often SteadyHost is visited and which websites visitors come from, with Umami (servers in the EU). Umami doesn't use cookies and doesn't collect personal data; visitors are only recognized by an anonymous session.

Report pages are counted without the domain name you check. We also measure whether a check completed and whether someone requests monitoring or has a report emailed, without the domain name or email address.

If you choose another language, your browser remembers that choice (in local storage, not in a cookie). Nothing is sent to us.

If you have a report emailed

We check the website again and send the report to the email address you enter, through Mailgun (EU servers). We don't keep the address: after sending, it stays in the overview of processed tasks of our queue for at most an hour, then it is gone. To prevent abuse, we count for one day how many reports an address receives, without storing the address itself. If an email cannot be sent, we keep that email, including your address, for at most 48 hours to investigate the problem.

If you have a website monitored

We store your email address, the website, your language and when you requested and confirmed the monitoring. For each check we keep only the latest result, so we can tell when something gets worse; we don't keep a history. We only use your email address for emails about this monitoring. If you don't confirm within 7 days, we delete the request. You can stop at any time with the link in every email we send; we then delete the data of that website right away. We send email through Mailgun (EU servers). If an email cannot be sent, we keep that email, including your address, for at most 48 hours to investigate the problem.

If you were on the waitlist

The waitlist is closed: monitoring is available. For people on the waitlist we store the email address, the website you checked, your language and when you signed up, confirmed and were invited. After confirming you get one email to switch on monitoring with one click. If you do, we delete your waitlist data right away; if you do nothing, we delete it 30 days after that email. Unconfirmed signups are deleted 7 days after the confirmation email. You can leave at any time with the link in every email we send; we then delete your data right away. We send email through Mailgun (EU servers). If an email cannot be sent, we keep that email, including your address, for at most 48 hours to investigate the problem.
